Orion Events Thursday Night Blues Presents a Salute to Etta James featuring Bobby Murray with special guest Tosha Owens.

Bobby Murray is an American electric blues guitarist, songwriter and record producer who has played in Etta James' backing band for twenty three years, performed on three Grammy Award winning recordings with James and B.B. King and released four solo albums. In 2011, the Detroit Blues Society granted Murray their Lifetime Achievement Award. Murray currently leads his own band in Metro Detroit and has won several Detroit Music Awards.

Tosha Owens is a singer/songwriter from Detroit. From her trademark fedora hat to her marvelous mix of Blues, Rock, Funk and R&B, she has the word Performer written all over her.
If you miss the sounds of classic Rock singers like Janis Joplin, Stevie Nix and Pat Benatar or Rhythm and Blues sounds of singers like Gladys Knight and Etta James. If you want some Funk, even her covers of Chaka Khan will thrill you.
Tosha’s distinctive and versatile voice can be heard on the stages of popular Detroit venues like Saint Andrew’s Hall, Bert's Market Place, Callahan's Music Hall, The Ribs & Blues Festival, The Concert of Colors, The Magic Bag , and MGM Grand Detroit. When Tosha performs, she always packs the house with a longtime following of dedicated fans and new admirers. Why? Because she delivers a unique sound and performance that no other Detroit singer can provide. “she’s gritty. “she’s bluesy. “she’s funky. “she rocks.

Detroit born and bred blues and soul singer Leonardo “Lenny” Watkins is certainly a jewel in the crown of the current Detroit blues scene. He is a keeper of a proud tradition of a musical city that has spawned the likes of John Lee Hooker, Little Willie John and Jackie Wilson, among so many talented others. Whether it's a back alley blues, sweet southern soul or uptempo and decidedly urban — Watkins is equally at home and delivers. A superb vocalist and consummate entertainer, Watkins gets house. He's opened for Etta James at the House of Blues in LA and Chicago, and other venues

A multi-faceted artist in the most classic sense, his songwriting, singing, and guitar playing beautifully reveal Nagy’s personalized music refreshingly and honestly infused with elements of soul, r&b, rock, and gospel. So unique and impressive was his debut release, Walk That Fine Thin Line, that it earned Nagy a prestigious Best New Artist debut nomination from the Blues Foundation in Memphis, as well as favorable reviews from hard-to-please critics at top media outlets like Down Beat, All About jazz, Blues Revue, Chicago Tribune, Detroit Free Press, Living Blues, Hittin’ The Note, Elmore Magazine and more
