Detroit's legendary blues-rock guitarist Jim McCarty. Jim got his initial fan recognition as a member of Billy Lee & the Rivieras…which later became Mitch Ryder and the Detroit Wheels . After splitting from that group, McCarty joined the Siegal Schwall Blues Band for a brief period .Then, beginning with 1968's Expressway to Your Skull, he was a member of the Buddy Miles Express band . Around 1969-70 he was asked to join the now highly regarded band Cactus, with fellow Detroiter Rusty Day. Jim stayed with the band for about two years . Jim and Johnny Bee Badanjek formed The Rockets in 1972 and he performed with them until the early 1980s. McCarty also appeared on Bob Seger's ‘Seven' album and Catfish Hodge's ‘Dinosaurs and Alleycats' album. Since then McCarty has played with a variety of area groups. Some include the Detroit Blues Band, Mystery Train, Hell Drivers, as well as participating in some Cactus reunions. In 2019 McCarty guested at Detroit's Fox Theatre with guitarist Joe Bonamassa.
